GILMNET launches Girls Tournament incollaboration with GADeF

The Girls Leadership and Mentorship Network(GILMNET) collaborate with its mother organisation, Global Alliance for Development Foundation (GADeF) to launch Girls Tournament in Ahafo under the Girls Sports Academy Initiative. The foundation through the  girls network has initiated this project to encourage girls through sports and foster their social skills so they can develop a sense of achievement and shun early pregnancy and marriage, drugs, alcohol and crime. The overall goal of the  girls academy project is to promote children and youth participation in sport and physical activities geared at providing many health and social benefits inherent in sporting activity and form a greater sense of empowerment that will expand beyond the sporting arena into everyday life.

The Ahafo Girls Academy was initiated in collaboration with the International School of Ahafo with technical directives by Tony Perrings.

Through this project four(4) team with 15 players each has been formed. As part of the initiative, tournaments will be organised to bring the teams together to compete for the Girls Tournament Tropy.

In November 2013,  the tournament  was launched. This brought together parents of the the girls and the 60 girls to the International School of Ahafo school football field. Below are pictures at the tournament.
